JOB VACANCIES AREA ... JOB INTERVIEWS
|
|
|
|
You've applied to the job, you've got your CV already and
you've been offered an interview. Now your ready for the easy bit (if only that
were true). To help you through this most important part of applying for a job
we've put together a few pointers and guides to make it a little easier for you. |
|
|
Before your interview
It's always useful to have an insight into the company's activities before you
arrive at a job interview, do a little research on the company before hand so
that you understand what your future employer is talking about. Make sure that
you have learned the contents of your CV inside out as you may be asked
questions regarding its contents. |
|
|
Arriving for your interview
Always arrive at least 10 minutes before the interview, be polite and courteous
to all people that you meet, including secretaries, receptionists etc as you
never know who you might be speaking to. Take a few minutes to compose yourself,
if you are hot and nervous, sit calmly and relax before your interview. |
|
During your interview
Always be polite, speak clearly and answer questions precisely, try to avoid
interrupting the interviewer and sit still, look confident, and avoid gazing
around the room whilst being talked to. Ask important questions that you would
have prepared and remembered before your interview, such as what the job
involves, pay etc.
If you are lucky enough to be offered the job make sure you understand what's
been offered, salary packages, incentives, holidays and when you are required to
start. Make sure you are clear on all points as its in your interest to do so. |

JOB VACANCIES AREA ... YOUR Presentation
|

Knowing exactly what to wear for an interview can be very difficult, the last
thing you want to do is over dress or on the other hand under dress for the
interview. The secret is to dress appropriately to impress your future employer,
portray self confidents and to fit in with the type of job you are applying for.
For example if you are being interviewed for an office manager's job a smart
suit and tie would be appropriate whereas a more casual outfit would be suitable
for manual type jobs.
Doing a little bit of homework and research before your interview will help you
get this right, take a look at how existing employees dress in the company that
you will be applying for your job. As a general rule a well groomed, well
presented individual will do better at an interview than the individual who
looks as though they have just fallen out of bed. |
|
|
A few things to consider
Dress smartly but avoid bright colours, bold patterns and high fashion outfits.
Try your outfit on the day before your interview and make sure everything is in
good order and you feel comfortable in it.
Take a look at your personal hygiene and grooming. Finger nails cut and clean
(particularly if applying for catering jobs). Hair combed, cut and well
presented.
Try to avoid overpowering perfumes and fragrances.
Keep cosmetics simple and apply professionally.
Try to keep jewellery to a minimum and simple. |
