Welcome to this April edition of our amusements newsletter.
Carrying on with our Back to Basics newsletters, parents confidence has been
knocked over recent years with several amusement related incidents making headline news.
Therefore it's even more important than ever to let your
customers know they are about to take a ride on a very safe, properly checked and professionally run
piece of equipment. If the ride looks dirty, unclear signs and the people
running it look unprofessional then the whole thing looks dodgy to the customer.
We really need to up our game to rebuild confidence!
From the customers point of view
1. All rides and amusement should be regularly cleaned and look new.
2. Protective clothing must be clean, well maintained and fit for the purpose.
3. Clear signs showing owner contact details, max persons, way in/out, pricing
and other amusement specific requirements i.e. age limits, no shoes etc.
4. The operator must give clear instructions, enforce ride rules rigorously, be
professional, polite but always show that he or she is always in charge.
As a operator you must ensure
1. All equipment such as blowers or electric generators are made
inaccessible.
2. All equipment is securely erected, well maintained and fit for the purpose.
3. Safety certificates are obtained when needed and renewed as required.
4. The correct insurance policy has been obtained with suitable cover.
5. That the customer can distinguish the ride operator from other members of the
public. (road safety vest with company name on back are ideal) |
