Welcome to this months edition of our newsletter. We all hear and read
the news articles about the countries economy, interest rates etc but do we take
enough notice of the annual inflation rate figures? Many small businesses set
their ride prices when they start up and can go many years before looking at
increasing prices in the fear of looking expensive. As a general example a
business charging £2.50 a ride in 2000 should now be charging around £3.20. To ensure that the
real value of the business turnover is not being eroded away by inflation ride
prices should be about 28% higher today than in 2000.

How to limit the effects of inflation on your business
Fuel has gone up, suppliers and pitch prices have increased yet your prices are
still the same and you're noticing less left in your pocket for all that hard
work! The effects of inflation will seem unimportant in the early years of a business but
will become more noticeable as your business gets more established with a
predictable annual turnover. The simplest way is to set base prices once a year
that increase yearly by around 3%, this will be the lowest price that you know
that you can charge for rides, so £2.50 this year should be £2.60 next year.
