Canon PIXMA TS8350a A4 Colour Multifunction Inkjet Printer (Wireless)

Bought this to replace an older TS8050 (waste ink tank full). Works much the same with good print quality and small software improvements. Easy to set up. I need the direct CD printing function which it does very well.

More complicated operating controls than previous Canons used for no particular advantage but bonus is photo print quality and speed of printing and scanning all excellent. Communication with PC by USB is 100%, unlike HP's printers, but WiFi not so straight forward to set up. A discounted price makes it good value.

I needed a new printer that would print directly onto CDs and this fitted the bill. I was very pleased and grateful for the customer support. I almost ordered a spare set of cartridges, bu forgot to add it before completing my order. The next day a very pleasant lady phoned to offer to add a spare set. which I gratefully ordered.

Bought this to replace my aging Canon MG6150 which finally gave up with a B200 print head error. The TS8350a was the nearest equivalent and Cartridge people had it for the best price (although it's gone up almost £20 in the week since I bought it!). As it was not an urgent purchase I opted for the FOC 2-3 day delivery but to my surprise it turned up the next day. Initial setup was easy (don't bother with the Canon videos) but had to install the driver package twice as it stopped scanning after the first couple of goes even though it would print and copy. The design itself is rather ugly being a very square box, which makes the fact that the paper tray sticks out 2 inches from the front when installed rather odd (the MG6150 tray slides neatly under the printer). The Scanner lid has no buffering built in (again the 6150 did), so just drops if you let it down. The Auto on feature is nice but the auto off/auto retract features are flawed. Auto retract of the output tray requires you to confirm via the front panel (so no 'auto retract' then). Auto off does turn the printer off after a set time but then leaves both the tray and the front panel open. Since both are powered out, why can they not automatically retract?. Print and scan qualities are fine and the latest scan utility give more flexibility than it's predecessor. Too early to judge ink use but even after just a few test pages the 'starter' inks were showing they had gone down. The price of a full replacement set from Canon is almost the same as the new cost of the printer so clearly won't be buying those, which means that any 'web services' will become unavailable to me.

Bought as old Canon printer "died" after ten and a half years, so this is a similar model and has similar functions. Easy to set up and so far no complaints, first lot of photos printed very high quality in terms of colour, when using the "copy" facility excellent results, still to try the scanner. Only "complaint" is the front panel has to be raised to print and every other time I switch it on it wants to check the paper/printing settings yet again.
